ARE VIRIDIAN EV CHARGING STATIONS COMPATIBLE WITH ALL ELECTRIC VEHICLES?
Our charging stations are compatible with most electric vehicles currently available on the market. In the EU electric vehicles generally have a Type 1 or Type 2 socket so choosing the correct connector is important. We supply units suitable for both Type 1 and Type 2 applications.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CHARGE AND ELECTRIC VEHICLE?
Charge time is dependent on a number of variables, including battery capacity and power available. Typical charge times are about 6 – 8 hours at around 3kW, 3 – 4 hours at 7kW, 1 hour at 22 kW and around 30 minutes at 43 – 50 kW.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO CHARGE AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE?
The cost of charging your electric vehicle will vary depending if you are charging at home or at a public access EV charging station, which have different rates set by different networks, some are even free!
At home, charging your electric car will typically cost between $2 and $6 (depending on tariff) for about a 160 kilometre range.
IS THEFT A CONCERN WITH CHARGING CABLES WHEN CHARGING IN PUBLIC?
The plug to plug cables Viridian EV supplies through ecoHarmony are lockable. The Type 1 cables have a small hole in the release trigger through which a small padlock can be inserted, locking the cable in the sockets. The Type 2 cables can be locked into sockets with an electromechanical locking mechanism whilst the car is charging.
